Escape From The Planet Of The Tapes is a short film that documents Andrew's anguish, angst & despair as the daily grind of running a cult video store into an economic dead end has dulled his passion for unusual movies. A new investor with wads of cash promises a shiny new venue, free of doorway junkies, and Andrew is taken by promises of a Trash that works. But can Andrew reconcile himself to running a store containing 'mainstream' films? Can another saviour be found whose ideas more closely align with those of the Trash founder? Or is Trash headed for the trash? The film concerns itself with a short period in the history of Trash Video, centering around the relocation of the store to the new West End premises in 2000.

It's a strange movie that you have to watch beginning to end, or you'll find yourself completely lost. Based on the Toronto-made TV series "Newsroom," this made-for-TV movie has many well-recognized Canadian actors and comedians. It's a modest comedy that has its "short chuckle of laughter" moments, but the real highlight is similar to the highlight of 12 Angry Men. They obviously endeavoured to make the acting look as real and natural as possible when making this show, and most of the entertainment comes from listening in on their conversations and being convinced by the good acting. This is the similarity to 12 Angry Men.

This exemplary "psychological drama" depicts the difficulties with which a new socialist mindset is born. Director Jiří Sequens warns against ill-advised marriages into the families of the defeated bourgeoisie, because the former royalty refuses to accept a man from a different social class. The heroes of this film will find out. The former owner of a pharmacy refuses to accept that his daughter has married a mere technical draughtsman. However, her father's hateful schemes cause the sensitive woman to attempt suicide.
